When author Nunzio Acocella and his family immigrated to the United States, they struggle learning to adapt to a new environment, culture and people. However, this experience enabled him to grow into becoming a part of the community. He has written "NUNU and his Best Friend" (published by Trafford Publishing) to encapsulate some of the stories of his childhood growing up in Brooklyn.

Published in July of 2012, this book tells the story of a boy and his best friend who happens to be a dog he finds as a puppy. Together, they grow and become close friends. They help each other and others as they become indispensable.

"This is a book that I always wanted to write because it is about my own story," Acocella says. "I just added a dog to make it more children-friendly. It also touches on the subject of immigration issues."

"NUNU and his Best Friend" captures the true meaning of friendship between a boy and his dog and how it both helped them grow together.
