A young boy is haunted by his grandfather's mistake on the battlefield during World War II, and his life depends on solving the family mystery in author Michelle Vigue's new young adult novel, "The Bunker" (published by iUniverse).

Twelve-year-old Nick Tierney can't escape the past. Nearly 64 years ago, a terrible mistake was made on a battlefield in war-torn France and now Nick must battle for his own life as he unravels the fallout from the mistake. The ties between Nick and his great-grandfather go deeper than blood as Nick investigates the events that devastated his family, put his best friend in a coma and took him across the ocean to France in search of answers.

An excerpt from "The Bunker":

"I felt the dirt pile up on my chest but was paralyzed with fear and couldn't will my limbs to move. The muffled sound of metal scrape against rock mixed with the sounds of barking dogs. Or were they wolves? I felt myself getting sucked deeper into a black hole. I wanted to move. I wanted to scream. I wanted to fight back. What I wanted and what I got were not the same."
