Merica Saint John's 2010 memoir "Dying to Live: Emerging from the Darkness of Mental Illness into the Light of a Sound Mind" (published by Trafford Publishing) presents her triumph over decades of adversity, including personality disorder and rape.

Saint John describes her book as the story of a woman emerging from the darkness of mental illness into the light of a sound mind - the inspiring, true story of walking through a confusing maze of mental health diagnoses and finding wholeness through the grace and power of God.

An excerpt from "Dying to Live":

A psychologist once told me, "We all have a personality, so a personality disorder simply means that something about it is out of order at the moment, but that doesn't mean it always will be. It's a little bit like a messy house. It may be a mess today but that doesn't mean it always will be. That's what therapy helps do is clean up the mess but leave the rooms inside you intact. Does that make sense?"

"Dying to Live" has been selected for inclusion in Trafford's Gold Seal program, which offers recognition of excellence in writing and overall potential.
