Carrie Fisher, who passed away on December 27th, wrote several best-selling books, which were mostly semi-autobiographical in nature. Among those were:

1. POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE, a semi-autobiographical 1987 novel. This bestselling Hollywood novel by the witty author of Wishful Drinking and Shockaholic that was made into a movie starring Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine. The book's opening line was, "Maybe I shouldn't have given the guy who pumped my stomach my phone number, but who cares? My life is over anyway." Buy her book here.

2. SURRENDER THE PINK. A romance novel that was published in 1990. The title term, surrender the pink, is a colloquialism pertaining to male sexual advances to a female. It comes from the phrase, "They're all pink on the inside." This novel, like most of Fisher's books, is semi-autobiographical and fictionalizes events from her real life. It is said to be loosely based on her short marriage to singer Paul Simon. Buy her book here.

3. THE BEST AWFUL THERE IS. This sequel to the bestselling Postcards from the Edge contains Carrie's Fisher's trademark intelligence and wit that brought Postcards to the Hollywood movie screen. When we left Suzanne Vale at the end of Carrie Fisher's bestselling Postcards from the Edge, she had survived drug abuse, rehab, and Hollywood celebrity. The Best Awful takes Suzanne back to the edge with a new set of troubles-not the least of which is that her studio executive husband turned out to be gay and has left her for a man. 4. DELUSIONS OF GRANDMA. Pregnant screenwriter Cora has taken to writing lengthy letters to her unborn child, and it's small wonder why. For that age-old script family values is looking like it needs a complete rewrite. Buy the book here.

Debbie Reynolds, who also passed away a day after her daughter died, also wrote two memoirs. Those included:

1. DEBBIE: MY LIFE. In this autobiography Debbie Reynolds tells her own story of growing up in Hollywood during its golden age in the 50s, and what it was like to share centre stage with stars such as Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra. She also describes her marriages with Eddie Fisher and Harry Karl. Buy her book here.

2. UNSINKABLE: A MEMOIR. Actress, comedienne, singer, and dancer Debbie Reynolds shares the highs and lows of her life as an actress during Hollywood's Golden Age, anecdotes about her lifelong friendship with Elizabeth Taylor and her experiences as the foremost collector of Hollywood memorabilia, and intimate details of her marriages and family life with her children, Carrie and Todd Fisher. A story of heartbreak, hope, and survival, "America's Sweetheart" Debbie Reynolds picks up where she left off in her first memoir, Debbie: My Life. Unsinkable is illustrated with previously unpublished photos from Reynolds's personal collection. Buy her book here.
