Observing acutely, the "generation gap" between the ages, she began to write an unpublished series of poems about "the Bee" in order to help those in her work and her private life to deal with an ever-growing generation gap in a light-hearted way. This led to the compelling and honest story about value and aging in "The Bee and Me".
