Maureen Potts Shares a SUMMER IN MUSKOKA

Maureen Potts marks her debut into the world of literature with a journey into one of Canada's most pristine of summer playgrounds: the District municipality of Muskoka, Ontario. In this memoir of sorts, Potts describes her life at their family cottage on Badgerow Island in Lake Joseph, Muskoka, Ontario, Canada. She chronicles her family's growth through successive phases in their history on Lake Joseph, particularly how they learned to deal with the rugged wilderness of their island. This book vividly captures the zeitgeist of an era and also the enriching effects of belonging to an extended family.

About the Author
Maureen Potts was born in Toronto, Canada, in 1941 and was educated at Loretto Abbey, a private girls' convent high school in Toronto. After graduation, she pursued studies in English and American literature at the University of Toronto. She earned her Bachelor of Arts with honors in 1967 and a Master of Arts in 1968. She earned her PhD in English in American literature and rhetoric and discourse theory at Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas, in 1980.

Dr. Potts started her career as a university professor at the University of Texas, El Paso, in 1970. She took early retirement in 1998 and moved to the San Francisco Bay area. She currently lives in Clearwater, Florida, where she enjoys her retirement and writing.
