DALLAS

Patrick, a penguin, couldn't be happier. He has a nice igloo, great friends and plenty of fish to eat. What Patrick comes to realize is that he is vastly different from his bird friends in a big way: he can't fly.

Author Margaret Morningstar helps Patrick spread his wings in her new children's book "Patrick the Penguin" (published by AuthorHouse), which follows Patrick as he tries to fly and learns a tough-to-swallow truth.

Patrick enjoys his regular visits from the snowbirds, which fly overhead and sing to him. As time goes on, he decides he, too, wants to fly. He becomes sad and feels inferior that he cannot fly carefree in the sky as his friends do.

"Patrick the Penguin" follows Patrick as he learns from the wise old penguin that every creature was created by the Creator for a specific reason. Morningstar hopes Patrick's character can help children realize the importance of every creature in the world. Furthermore, she hopes children will take note of the special abilities every creature and person has, and use those abilities for good.
