MTV VJ'S to Auction Advance Peek of UNPLUGGED ADVENTURES to Benefit Hurricane Victims

To aid the ongoing Hurricane Sandy relief efforts the four original MTV VJs (Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter, Martha Quinn) have all signed two limited advance paperback proofs of their upcoming book, VJ-THE UNPLUGGED ADVENTURES OF MTV'S FIRST WAVE (Atria Books; May 7, 2013), for auction on eBay Giving Works with all profits going to New York Cares and Best Friends Animal Society.  The perfect gift for any '80s fan, these will be the only signed copies of proofs. To bid, go to ebay charity at this link: bit.ly/Vq1foF. The first auction begins on December 3rd and will last for one week, and the second auction will begin on December 10th, also lasting for one week.

Together, the original five VJs stood in as surrogates for viewers, offering a fan's-eye glimpse into the world of rock and pop during its 80's heyday. It was an era when stars like Madonna, Van Halen, and Michael Jackson were still routinely shocking and dazzling audiences and fans clung to every word that these culture makers broadcast from the MTV studios. Simultaneously part of the scene and outside observers, the VJs interviewed, hung out, partied with, and occasionally dated some of the most famous names of the day.

Auction 1: Best Friends Animal Society is the leader of the no-kill shelter movement in the United States and a veteran rescue organization from the days of Hurricane Katrina, has been working through its New York programs office and emergency first responders to distribute food and supplies to a wide area surrounding the hardest hit areas in New Jersey. Additionally, Best Friends has been transporting animals affected by the storm to shelters ready to take them and get them into new homes. Best Friends operates the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals in southwestern Utah. http://www.bestfriends.org/
