Author Lynda Stevens, in her newly published book The Lawn Monster, gives readers a glimpse of what it is like for a child to deal with his or her fears. Written specifically to help children learn to be brave, this picture book reads as a delightful tale, but offers sound advice on how to overcome issues of fright or anxiety.

Made available through Xlibris, The Lawn Monster helps children navigate through all scary or challenging situations that come their way. The story's main characters, Jahf and his younger brother Steve, deal with fears regarding a particular monster that comes out at night. This lawn monster, as they call it, reaches out its viney arms and takes toys back to its den. The author also includes the realistic issue of school bullying and how children can combat it.

Children with the same fears will readily identify with the brothers and see how they themselves can overcome their issues with fears and anxiety.

Although a picture book, The Lawn Monster is not meant for children alone. This lesson-filled book can also be read by teachers, parents and counselors.
