Perpetuating the gripping serial work of a master storyteller, author Linda Lonsdorf returns to the world of thriller fiction with her fresh comeback novel, "Don't Open the Door"(published by Xlibris), the fourth book of the famed "Evil Threat" series. Charged with a riveting hook-and-twist, Lonsdorf blends mystery with relevant social statements that probe the many realities of modern day society.

"Don't Open the Door" follows the story of a typical American neighborhood in Akron, Ohio whose peace and amity is seared with the eventful death of a 15-year-old girl named Nikki Morino. Nikki was found dead in her foyer. The crime scene is quite clean but all evidence points to murder. Jared Davis, a 19-year-old teen with Down syndrome, is the prime suspect. Until the forensic report comes back, the Akron Police Department hesitates to make an arrest. Neighbors are fearful for their safety and as prejudice escalates, so does the victimization of the Davises. Doug Conrad and his investigative team are hired to solve the case. Meanwhile, two Connecticut prison escapees target Donna Gifford, a Conrad investigator, putting her life in danger. It is doubtful whether help will reach her in time. Conrad's life is in upheaval once again.

Vividly portraying the outright cruelty that could result from rushed judgments, the book aims to imbue a timely reminder of how unexamined views and blames can easily destroy lives. Facts, Lonsdorf believes, can be falsely interpreted. Oftentimes, persecution reveals the real character of the blaming side, rather than that of the receiving end. Pointing out the relevant prejudice issues in America and the rest of the world, she hopes to inspire readers to be more contemplative of controversial crimes and not rush into hyped, limited judgments.

"We all need to do better with prejudging others," Lonsdorf says. "When something bad happens you have three choices: you can either let it define you; let it destroy you; or you can let it strengthen you."
