"Every life is unique," author Les Joslin fondly remarks with the release of his newest book, "Life & Duty: An American Adventure" (published by Xlibris). In a skillfully prepared autobiographical memoir, Joslin exposes 70 years of hardships and concessions, allowing readers a closer look into the life of a man who battled the odds, stood victorious, and generously shared the tale of his legacy to fellowmen on the rough.

"'Life & Duty' is the story of how I lived my life and did my duty as an American citizen," Joslin adds. With the world as its backdrop, the book segments Joslin's life in three parts: the first addresses his heritage and early years from 1943 to 1967, the second part tells his U.S. Navy career from 1967 to 1988, and the third part contains the aspects of his Oregon years from 1988 to present. Joslin's bold courage to take risks as well as his admirable character to open up to every opportunity took him to life-changing adventures that led off to personal growth and ultimate life fulfillment. "Life & Duty" goes beyond the story of one man and instead mirrors the privilege - not the guarantee - of living an extraordinary life in the Land of the Free.

Sharing his first-hand account, the author hopes to inspire and encourage others to share their own story and take an appreciation of the fact they can live a constructive life, do meaningful things-and feel good about their lives-if only they will take responsibility for and accept the challenges and opportunities that life presents.
