Author and Illustrator Kirk Scroggs will be on hand to sign copies of his new book, "Tales of a Sixth-Grade Muppet," on Sunday afternoon December 18 (from 2:30 to 4 p.m.) at Disney's Soda Fountain & Studio Store, located adjacent to the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. Scroggs is appearing at the Store in conjunction with the El Capitan engagement of Disney's "The Muppets" showing through January 8, 2012.

"Tales of a Sixth-Grade Muppet" explores atypical day in the life of sixth-grader Danvers Blickensderfer, which includes worrying about getting hit by a ball in gym; the embarrassment of sharing a room-with bunk beds-with his little sister; trying not to injure himself, or his best friend Pasquale in any death-defying stunts or tributes to his idol The Great Gonzo; and generally just trying to survive as a normal middle-schooler.
However, Danvers' worries are all about to change.  One night he goes to bed, and wakes up the next morning feeling a little fuzzy-literally! He's turned into a Muppet! Unsure what to do or where he fits in, he discovers there's an internship open at the Muppet Theater, with a chance to meet his long-nosed, stunt-lovin' hero.  Everything is about to change as Danvers joins the zaniest crew ever: the Muppets!

With hilarious characters, both familiar and new, and black and white illustrations throughout, "Tales of a Sixth-Grade Muppet" is sure to inspire a brand new generation of Muppet fans.

Kirk Scroggs is one quarter Muppet by birth. As a child, he used his "Pigs in Space" lunch box for so long, his mom finally declared it a rusty, toxic health hazard and gave it to his little brother. Originally from Austin, Texas, Scroggs now lives in Los Angeles where he enjoys doodling, spray tans, and writing important literature like "Wiley & Grampa's Creature Features: Dracula vs. Grampa at the Monster Truck Spectacular."

The El Capitan Theatre's special engagement of Disney's "The Muppets" features a special holiday sing-a-long presented by Kodak with Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, in person on the El Capitan stage before every screening, with all guests receiving a free Jinglebell bracelet to help them join in the fun! Miss Piggy will even have her couture wardrobe collection, which includes her Zac Posen designer gown and her peep-toed Christian Louboutin pumps from the film on display after the movie.

Daily showtimes are 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the El Capitan Theatre (6838 Hollywood Blvd.), online at
www.elcapitantickets.com, or by calling 1-800-DISNEY6.  Special group rates for parties of 20 or more are available by calling 1-818-845-3110.  Showtimes subject to change.

On select days, El Capitan guests may also enjoy "Disney's Most Sensational Muppet Party!" before or after the movie at Disney's Soda Fountain & Studio Store. This one-of-a-kind party features "Wocka Wocka Wocka" fun for everyone, with finger sandwiches, fruit salad, cupcake decorating and a special gift and commemorative photo provided by Kodak for every guest!  Seating is limited and reservations are required.
