ASHTABULA, Ohio

Inspired by her family, her friends and the loss of her son, author Kay Garrod gives readers moving and emotional rhymes and verses with her new book. With this collection she achieves "Poetic Expression" (published by Xlibris), conveying the essence of her life experiences through the power of writing.

The book itself contains Garrod's feelings on many different subjects that are encountered during the journey of life. After the loss of her 20-year-old son, Barry R. Catron, due to a boating accident, she started putting her thoughts on paper in the form of poems. Readers can relate to her heartfelt stanzas, meant to sooth hearts and souls in preparation for the challenges they will encounter as the days go by.

The poem "Never Give In" gives encouragement for the weary, saying: "Hopes and dreams are all we have. / Keep the faith, let go the sad. / Keep pushing forward / Don't give in without a fight / And our dreams will take flight."

"It has been and always will be my therapy!" Garrod says. "But I will never get over his loss."

With "Poetic Expression," Garrod brings her compassion and honesty to bear as she shows her audience how she endured the crucible of loss and grief, and the process of healing that comes after.
