A young elf with big dreams gets pushed through a portal into the human realm, where she must face many challenges to find her way back home in K. T. Durham's new young adult fiction, "Ellanor and the Search for Organoth Blue Amber" (published by Partridge Singapore).

This fantasy tale tracks the adventures of Elly, a young elf from the elven realm of Alendria, who dreams of being an explorer one day. Elly is insecure, gets tormented at school and is dreading her upcoming 12th birthday. Her adventure begins when she is fooled by a goblin and pushed through a portal into the human realm of Gaya.

Desperate to find her way back home to Alendria, Elly must masquerade as a human while she attempts to track down an elusive blue amber that she hopes will repair the damaged portal. Along the way, Elly not only forges friendships and grows more mature, but also learns some sinister secrets about her homeland and its connections with the human realm ... secrets that will change her life forever.

"I believe I have created a fantasy world with substance, and I think readers would be able to relate to it as the fantasy tale is also partially embedded in the 'real' world," Durham says. "Most of all, I believe my protagonist, Elly, is one that readers can identify with as she struggles to cope with her flaws as well as her predicament."

About the Author
K. T. Durham grew up in Australia and currently lives in Hong Kong with her husband and family. Her honors thesis was published in a European academic journal and she has written articles for educational magazines. Her love for writing fiction further intensified after she completed a creative writing course through the University of Oxford. Durham strongly believes, just as Roald Dahl imparted, that those who don't believe in magic will never find it. "Ellanor and the Search for Organoth Blue Amber" is the first book in a planned series, and she is presently at work on a sequel.
