Variety reports that Emerging Pictures has set an October 7th release date for THE LENNON REPORT, a new film which examines the aftermath of the 1980 murder of legendary Beatle John Lennon.

The film will open in 10 cities, including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, Tampa, San Francisco, Denver, Atlanta and Cleveland, before expanding to theaters nationwide on October 14th.

Gregory Barr will make his feature-film debut as John Lennon with Karen Tsen Lee (Law and Order: SVU) as Yoko Ono. Co-writer of the film, Walter Vincent, also making his feature film debut, will portray the six-time Emmy Award-winning reporter, Alan Weiss, who broke the news nationally from the hospital that night while being treated for a leg injury from a motorcycle accident. Devin Ratray (Home Alone) will portray Neil Goldstein, the ABC News Assignment Editor that Weiss called from the hospital to break the story and following the news that Kevin Dillon had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, relatively unknown actor, William Pennen (Jake's Dead) has signed on to take over the role of New York City Police Officer Riley.

To accurately tell the story and pay tribute to the men and women who tried to resuscitate Lennon, the Francisco Brothers, along with writer and director Jeremy Profe, tracked down and interviewed the actual doctors and nurses who were in the operating room on that December night more than 30 years ago. They also interviewed award-winning journalist Alan Weiss for his firsthand account.
