Much has changed since the dawn of humanity, since prehistoric times when man still dwelled in caves and huddled near the fire, fearing what lurked unseen in the dark of the night. Man has gone out and claimed the world as his own, slaying the beasts that once hunted him and reshaping the very earth, covering it with vast canyons of glass, steel and concrete. On the other hand, some things remain the same, for tribes of man still continue to inflict unspeakable savageries upon each other. The cycle of death and vengeance is unbroken - perhaps it is unbreakable - and author John B. Fuller portrays this sobering reality in his new novel, a tale contrasting the lives of two men dwelling in vastly different eras, yet mirroring each other in their acts of violence, both embarking on odysseys of revenge, both seeking To Kill a Dream.

It begins in the primordial wilderness of prehistoric Earth. The narrative follows Snag, a Cro-Magnon whose clan has been decimated by the Ape Men, vicious troglodytes who attacked in the dark of night, indiscriminately slaying men and women alike. Snag swears a blood oath, vowing to kill all the Ape Men and their families.

In modern times, a young boy named Alan reads the chronicle of Snag shortly before going on a plane ride with his parents. When their aircraft crashes into the Canadian wilderness, Alan is the only survivor. The traumatized boy subsists in the wild before being rescued. He inherits the family legacy, and grows up to be an isolated man longing for intimacy, for human warmth. He finds the woman of his dreams while conducting a business deal in Dubai, but before he can even tell her how he feels for her, she is brutally taken from him. After discovering that she died at the hands of the Taliban, he too embraces the basest instincts found in the darkest recesses of his mind and begins a ruthless campaign of vengeance against the terrorists.

A spectacle of violence plays out both in primeval Earth and modern day Dubai. The two protagonists shed the blood of their enemies, wielding the lethal weapons of their age - spears and stones, firearms and explosives - to end lives, all in the name of revenge. Readers will see them descend into the darkness, the uncompromising narrative will show them the shocking results of Snag and Alan's ruthless exploits, the consequences this merciless path of life exacts for those who take it, those who seek To Kill a Dream.

This action-packed tale is laced with powerful themes exploring the price of revenge whilst contrasting the natures of prehistoric man and his modern counterpart. It will certainly appeal to readers who enjoy tales depicting suspense, intrigue, and the battle of survival all men wage in a world where the strong must struggle and strive to prevail against implacable forces, some borne from human nature itself.
