Jasmine Samuel, a high school girl living in Richmond, Va. who started writing short stories at nine, has completed her first book "Becoming a Woman": an involved and emotional coming of age story that she hopes will teach girls and young women to never lose hope.

Samuel has always wanted to be an author since she was a little girl living in New York. Once she moved to Virginia, she decided to put her dream into action. She eventually wrote a story that was good enough to be published. Now she plans to continue writing books and short stories with hopes to inspire everyone around the world. She spends most of her time reading books and just having fun with friends and family.

"Becoming a Woman will definitely encourage every young woman to always stay strong and beautiful no matter what comes in their way. It will teach women to hold their heads up high and face their problems head on so that they can fight the battles that life throws at them and end up winning their victory gracefully," Samuel said. "Anyone can make it through life's tough challenges, you just have to know the right way to handle it."

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Samuel's poignant tale of a young college student and her best friend from preschool is a look at love, life and the growing pains that surround those seminal years.

Angel Knight is a new college student, wants to show her parents that she can be independent so she moves out of the house and moves in an apartment with her best friend, Sheila. Sheila is lucky enough to have a boyfriend who really loves her, but she just can't see how much he cares. She wants someone better, so she searches for a new boyfriend, but no one can make her as happy as her boyfriend. Angel has had a boyfriend who cheated on her twice and another boyfriend after the cheater, who motive was revenge not love. To top it all off Angel finds out that her friend Monet is pregnant and Angel's mom invited her to live with them. As Angel tries to juggle her family and friends, college, and her messed up relationships all together, somewhere along the way it lands her in jail and she has no one to bail her out. This isn't the way she planned her life to be, but how will she get out of the situation that life has landed her in so she can continue on her right path?

Readers who wish to experience this thought-provoking work can purchase"Becoming a Woman" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
