James G. Byrd Sr. pursues a new marketing campaign for his memoir originally published in 2009. Written through the eyes of an American boy, "My Son the Brat: Bentwaters/Woodbridge 1955-59" (published by Trafford Publishing) regales readers with Byrd's story of joining his father at the Bentwaters and Woodbridge Royal Air Force base near Felexstow, England.

"My dad was a T/SgT in the Air Force," Byrd says. "I wanted to share my childhood experiences of what it was like living in England in the '50s."

Referring to himself by the character name of "Mike" throughout the book, Byrd narrates several humorous misadventures as he tries to ruin his father's Air Force career in the 79th squadron and recapture the "good old days" of the 1950s.

An excerpt from "My Son The Brat":

"The 79th went TDY to Morocco again and during this time, we kids sure drove the AP nuts. I remember the new sergeant major of the AP was big into fancy drills and nice, neat uniforms. We kids used to mess with their drill until one kid got carried off by two AP's and put into the base stockade until his mother showed up."
