James Blackstone Memorial Library Names Katy Dillman Its New Development & Outreach Librarian

James Blackstone Memorial Library, has named Katy Dillman as its new Development & Outreach Librarian, a key role for supporting the library's development and marketing plans.

Dillman's new responsibilities put her in charge of fundraising events, donations and internal and external communications, in addition to her services as the library's Reference/Information Services Librarian.

"I am thrilled to take on the Development & Outreach Librarian duties" said Dillman. "I look forward to continuing my work with the people of Branford while advancing the library's long-term development and marketing goals."

Dillman has served as the Reference/Information Services Librarian for the Blackstone for four years. Her prior experience also includes: Library Assistant for the Guilford Free Library, Project Manager/Product Development & Marketing for HealthMarkets, Inc., and Sales Assistant for AutoPilot Systems, Inc. and Zodiac Pool Care, Inc.

"We are thrilled to welcome Katy into her new role," said Karen Jensen, director, James Blackstone Memorial Library. "The knowledge, experience and dedication that Katy brings to the Blackstone is indispensable. She is an amazing asset to the library's staff as well as its patrons."

Dillman earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Atlantic University; Broward College, and a Master of Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University.

A central hub of the community that inspires lifelong learning, provides essential access to information and strengthens Branford, the Blackstone library served more than 200,000 patrons in 2013 alone. Every day, people of all ages, ethnicities and abilities turn to the Library for a variety of reasons, whether it be to connect to the Internet, teach their children to read or find a place of quiet reading and reflection. Further, the Blackstone Library provides more than just books, computers and DVDs. It provides a place to exchange ideas, build relationships and learn from one another. In 2013, more than 20,000 people attended programming at the library.
