During his global travels as an acrobat and gymnast, author Jack Garnett met many people and heard many stories. What he found was that the stories he heard from women were the most compelling. In "Girl...Tell Me Your Story: A Gift Of Poems For Reflection, Celebration and Healing" (published by iUniverse), he transforms some of the stories he heard into poems, sprinkling them with some of his own interpretations of the women's experiences.

"My Inspiration came from the life-stories of women/girls during my global travels and the common thread that binds them together; regardless of language, creed or social status," Garnett explains.

Sharing a collection of women's unique experiences, "Girl...Tell Me Your Story" draws from North America, South America, Europe, Asia, the West Indies and the Pacific Islands. It also includes a page after each poem for readers to record their own thoughts and experiences.

"I would like the readers to not only engage themselves emotionally in each subject area posited by each poem, but also develop an intellectual understanding of what it takes to truly reflect a spirit of compassion and understanding."
