This week, we along with the Association of American University Presses (AAUP) are celebrating University Press Week! Local and national events are planned to raise awareness about university presses and the contributions they make to scholarship and our society.

Blog Tour
November 10-14
Schedule

Thirty-two university presses are kicking off the week with a blog tour, which comes to the IU Press blog on November 11. We will feature a post on the history of the Press as we look forward to our 65th anniversary next year.

Online Event: Collaboration in Scholarly Publishing
November 12

Register (free) at Google+

Join moderator Jen Howard, Senior Reporter at the Chronicle of Higher Education, for a lively discussion with panelists Ron Chrisman, University of North Texas Press, Peter Dougherty, Princeton University Press, and Barbara Kline Pope, National Academies Press. Ron will be talking about the ornithological collaboration between the Press, the University's Sub-Antarctic Biocultural Conservation Program, and Chile's University of Magallanes to bring out a decade of research at Cape Horn. Peter will talk about the next stage in one of scholarly publishing's benchmark collaborations: Digital Einstein. And Barbara will talk about working with IU's Cyberinfrastructure for Network Science Center to bring a visualization of the publishing output of the National Academies to life. Learn more.

This is the last session in our fall semester Publishing Your First Book workshop series. Join Naz Pantaloni, Copyright Program Librarian for IUScholarWorks, and Kristina Keogh, Head of the IU Fine Arts Library, for a discussion about how to get permissions for an academic book. This workshop is geared toward junior faculty and PhD students who are first-time authors. Space is limited.

November 13
1 p.m. - 3 p.m
Scholars' Commons, Room R

In a new initiative launched earlier this fall, we hold office hours every Thursday to help support the scholarship of IU faculty, staff, and students. Staff members are available to answer your questions about publishing on a first-come, first-served basis during their scheduled time.
