In her native German, Helga Fendler presents a real life story of a family emigrating from Germany to the United States in “Beautiful Atlantaâ€' (published by AuthorHouse).

When Fendler was 12-years-old, she lived with her family in Germany. Her older sister had a thick book about Atlanta, which was across the huge sea in the United States. She was fascinated from the beginning and could not stop reading. Her mother sent her to bed and wouldnâ€t allow her to continue reading because she had school the next day. In the afternoon the next day, she hid a flashlight in her bed so she could still read after her mother sent her to bed that night.

Although it always seemed like a dream meant to stay a dream, Fendler often thought of life in Atlanta. Germany was so far away from America that she thought it would never happen. “Beautiful Atlantaâ€' describes Fendler as an adult, with a family, finally raising the money to make her long sought-after trip, and the many opportunities and adventures that she and her family experienced once they made it to the U.S.
