NEW YORK, Jan. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ 800-CEO-READ today announces that Kevin Ashton, who coined the term "internet of things," has won the 2015 800-CEO-READ Business Book of the Year Award for How to Fly a Horse: The Secret History of Creation, Invention, and Discovery, published by Doubleday Books. The book chronicles the history of creation and those responsible for history's greatest innovations while debunking the many great myths of creativity, particularly that creation results from innate genius instead of hard work and determination.

General Manager Sally Haldorson said of How to Fly a Horse, "We believe it is a book that will leave a positive, lasting impact on the life of a lone creative striver, on the thinking of the most traditional business practitioner, and on everyone in-between. Because of that, we believe it will have a great impact on the lives of organizations large and small."

More information about the book and the awards process can be found on the company's In the Books site.

800-CEO-READ also announces that they have awarded the Second Annual Jack Covert Award for Contribution to the Business Book Industry to Adrian Zackheim. Zackheim, whose rise in publishing runs parallel to 800-CEO-READ's growth, joined Penguin Group in September 2001 as Publisher of Portfolio. He started Sentinel in April 2003 and Current in March 2010. Previously, he was the Associate Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of HarperInformation, a division of HarperCollins that included HarperBusiness. His editorial career included positions at William Morrow, Doubleday, and St. Martin's Press, and his first job was as Phyllis Grann's editorial assistant at Putnam.

The Jack Covert Award is named for 800-CEO-READ's now-retired founder and president. Covert played a major role in the expansion of the business book industry, and the award recognizes others central to the industry's growth and success.
