Gloria Glendale's ONCE UPON A TIME to Be Featured at 2014 American Library Association Annual

As a child growing up in the Tsatsisnukwomi Village, located off the northern part of Vancouver Island, author Gloria Glendale enjoyed hearing the stories and legends of her people, the Da'naxda'xw-Awaetlala Tribes, told over and over again. She now shares that love with other young readers in her new collection of children's short stories, "Once Upon A Time" (published by Trafford Publishing), which will showcased at the 2014 American Library Association Annual.

"My stories are taken from the legends that were told from generation to generation," explains Glendale. "Some just came from the imagination that grew from listening to those very same stories and legends."

The stories in "Once Upon A Time" reflect the morals and lessons that Glendale learned from her tribe's stories, which she hopes to pass on to young readers. In one story, a mink gets lost and must learn to problem solve effectively if he ever wants to get home. In another, a mother learns that understanding her family's past is essential to her and future generations.

Both entertaining and informative, "Once Upon A Time" is packed with tall tales and heartwarming stories. Glendale hopes to make readers laugh as well as feel good while sharing the stories about her home.

The 2014 American Library Association Annual Conference boasts, "Transforming our libraries, ourselves." The exhibition will be held in Las Vegas from June 26th through July 1st.

Gloria Glendale was born in Tsatsisnukwomi Village. She is a member of the Da'naxda'xw-Awaetlala Tribes of Knight Inlet on the coast of British Columbia. She grew up in the Courtenay, Campbell River area, and has raised her two children and entertained many of her nieces and nephews with her short stories.
