Gerardus Ramc's book, "Cogito: A Philosophical Dissertation" (published by Trafford Publishing), presents Ramc's challenge to traditional religious and philosophical lore. In his book, which will be included in the 2014 Guadalajara International Book Fair in October, he explores the oft-commented dissonance between the theory of evolution and the theory of creation - two things which, he notes, have been and remain at loggerheads with each other.

"The fact remains," Ramc says, "that the supernatural explanation of the universe is a fantasy." He goes on to wonder, "Are we lost somewhere on a cosmic road to nowhere? If God exists, why does he need all these gigantic fiery celestial marbles to play with? If there is no god, what else is out there, and what shall we call it, him, her?"

An excerpt from "Cogito," the author's credo:

"I believe the cosmos to be an accident.
I believe our galaxy to be an accident.
I believe our heliosphere to be an accident, lost somewhere between the scrutum centaurus arm and the Perseus arm in the Orion spur.
I believe our sun and our planet Earth to be an accident some twenty-six thousand light years from our galaxy's center."

Readers who enjoy philosophical thought will find much to ponder in "Cogito."
