The seventh of the Luke Tremayne Adventure series, "The Dark Corners" places Luke at odds with highwaymen, smugglers, religious fanatics and even a witch.
Quaife spent 30 years teaching 17th-century European and American history at the University of New England. He was particularly fascinated with the history of Cromwell and the British Civil Wars. When he began writing, this epoch provided a wealth of information for his historical fiction.

"Following another shot, the situation changed dramatically. The boy fell from his horse, but Luke and Evan were almost on the shooters. Luke primed his carbine. Rounding the next bend, he heard another musket shot. It grazed his cheek. They were now the targets. The shots came from behind a large boulder that half blocked the track. Luke and Evan dismounted and threw themselves into a fast-flowing water-filled ditch. There was only open ground between this drain and the rock."

Geoff Quaife was born in Melbourne, Australia, but spent most of his life in Armidale, New South Wales. He spent his working years teaching at the University of New England in Armidale. In retirement, he began writing historical fiction. "The Dark Corners" is the seventh book of his Luke Tremayne Adventure series.
