GENERATION B Launches New Marketing Push

Suru Manek has witnessed the socioeconomic plight of African-Americans, as well as the proverbial laundry list of racism, violence, poverty and the myriad of issues brought to the forefront by the Black Lives Matter movement. He says that these reminded him of the adversities his own ethnicity faced, which inspired him to write "Generation B" (published by Xlibris). In its pages, he proposes a roadmap to prosperity based on his personal experiences with overcoming hardship and racial discrimination, as well as lessons drawn from his Gujarati culture.

"Black America's socioeconomic plight is in the news everyday; even President Obama has suggested My Brother's Keepers concept to address this issue," says Manek. Manek recounts how he learned to stand up to racism and discrimination in colonial Africa before finding success in America. He attributes some of this to his ethnic background and proposes that African-Americans adopt traits of Gujarati culture and rituals to cultivate, both individually and collectively, a lifestyle to define their destiny. He asserts that this will help alleviate socioeconomic doldrums, calling it a cultural blueprint made up of a "magic mix of cultural elements that can bring success to even the most oppressed."

About the Author
Suru Manek, successful business owner and long-time president of the Lohana Community of Los Angeles, is of East Indian ancestry. Growing up in abject poverty in rural Kenya, Manek experienced extreme racial discrimination at the hands of the British colonial government.
