About the Author
Francois van Wyk was born at Dullstroom, South Africa on April 16, 1934. After he matriculated in 1952, he was employed on a Gold Mine as an Official Learner. Saving up a bit of money, he left for London where he studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Following which he hitch-hiked all over Britain, Scandinavia and Europe, and boarded the Kenya Castle in Gibraltar to come back to South Africa via the Suez Canal. Back in South Africa, he joined the National Theatre Company and toured the country for a few years. Through part time study, he obtained a BSc degree in Math and Physics from the University of Pretoria. He finally found his niche when he joined the Afrikaans Radio Service of the South African Broadcasting Corporation. His broadcasting career ended in 1997 when he retired. Accompanied by his wife Trui, they travelled all over the world. In 2005 he first sat down to write "When Cultures Intertwine - The African Way."
