Before he was The Ol Rancher, author of the Critter Tales series, he was a young rancher who raised and trained horses. Being an old hand at ranching, and having a passel of grandchildren to entertain, The Ol Rancher has come up with another surefire hit with kids in Doc the Dog.

At the ranch, the grandkids love to gather around him as they roast marshmallows over a small campfire and listen to stories about the ranch and its animals. Like the cannily intelligent dog Doc who goes around the ranch ministering and helping with the other farm animal's concerns, The Ol Rancher spins his yarns with an easygoing style that is wise to the ways of ranches, the world, and kids.

As a boy, The Ol Rancher grew up around animals of all kinds, horses, cattle, chickens, dogs, cats, even a goat or two. The author's avocation has taught him to understand many things about kids and how well they would receive a story. This book, like all his books, is tailor-fit for young minds to digest. Doc the Dog is a simple story filled with familiar themes and things of childhood. It also has several lessons that kids will latch on to intuitively.

This book will be featured at the 2013 American Library Association Midwinter Book Exhibit in Seattle, Wash. on January 25 - 28, 2013.

About the Author
The Ol Rancher is blessed with grandchildren and a successful business doing petting zoos for children's birthday parties. From those blessings the story teller in him came to life. At birthday parties he would tell the kids stories about their favorite farm animal. As children ate yummy birthday cake or gooey roasted marshmallows, The Ol Rancher would spin his yarns and Critter Tales were born.
