Figmentica is a beautiful continent full of creatures as mystical as they are diverse. The Gadoomfs are kind and caring creatures who have called Goodlybuttonswell home for as long as their kind has existed. They discover with shock that Goodlybuttonswell is threatened by the greedy Foosnags.

Author Fiona Burdett invites readers to traverse the magical and diverse continent of Figmentica in her new children's book, "The Gadoomfs: Across the Waaigezi" (published by Trafford Publishing).

Goose, Boo, Daddoo and Bear, four Gadoomf siblings, are hailed as the heroes of their hometown. The four unlikely heroes set off on a journey to uncover the mystery of why the Foosnags want to invade their beloved Goodlybuttonswell.

They make a grim discovery - the Foosnags have destroyed their own homeland. They have drained it of its resources and are now looking hungrily across their borders.

"I hope that the story illustrates to young readers that our environment is delicate, and it is very easy to upset the balance," Burdett says.

Throughout "The Gadoomfs," the four heroes will not only face the villainous Foosnags, but learn of the fragility of the environment and the similarities between their own kind and others, despite physical differences.
