GEORGETOWN, Pa. -Emily Schroeder began writing her book two years ago and did not touch it for a long time. Then she found out that she had to get heart surgery in September of 2013. Once she recovered enough to be coherent, she started in on the book again with a newfound passion.

"The Windkeeper: Book 1 in the Eld Creatures Series" (published by Xlibris) is about Morgan (The Windkeeper), a mage who has the elemental powers of both air and earth. She is faced with the realization that her whole life has been governed by an ancient prophecy. She embarks on a dangerous journey to find the elusive marlens and convince them to save her kingdom from magical warfare. The marlens are their only hope, but many doubt they still exist. Even if they do, it is highly unlikely they will be willing to help.

"The Windkeeper is full of imagination, adventure, romance, and magic. It has new elements of my own creation, as well as age-old elements from countless fantasy books before it," Schroeder said. "I want readers to be completely immersed in the book and come away from it wanting to live in that world forever. I know I do," she added.

Schroeder's writing is heavily influenced by her background in geology. She believes this sets "The Windkeeper: Book 1 in the Eld Creatures Series" apart from other books as it paints a more vivid world.
