Elsevier Congratulates its Medical Authors and Editors for This Industry Recognition and for Consistently Producing High-quality Medical Content

Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced that 32 of its professional and scholarly products were honored at the British Medical Association's annual BMA Medical Book Awards ceremony at BMA House in London on September 7, 2016. This year, publishers submitted more than 600 products. Twenty first prizes and numerous Highly Commended prizes were awarded.

The BMA Illustrated Book Award went to Atlas of the Human Brain, 4 th edition, by Drs. Jrgen K. Mai, Milan Majtanik and George Paxinos. The book also received a High Commendation in the Basic and Clinical Sciences category.

Elsevier received first prizes in the following categories:

Dr. Robert Colvin, whose book, Diagnostic Pathology: Kidney Disease, 2 nd edition, won First Prize in the Pathology category said, "We are very pleased with the recognition received from the BMA and hope this will promote wide use of the text by pathologists and nephrologists. The credit for the book's success goes to the expert co-authors who wrote such outstanding chapters and provided exceptionally instructive images."

Dr. Douglas Mann who, along with co-author Dr. Michael Felker received First Prize in the Cardiology category for their book, Heart Failure: A Companion to Braunwald's Heart Disease, 3 rd edition, said, "The third edition of Braunwald's Heart Failure Companion captures all of the important advances and progress of the field in a comprehensive bench-to-bedside textbook. Every attempt was made to capture what we believe is needed in a "modern" textbook of heart failure, recognizing that the intended readership extends from trainees, to nurses and physicians in practice, to advanced heart failure specialists."
