Debut author Elizabeth Washburn tenders a blood-curdling whodunit set against the backdrop of "small town" America in "Scream for Me." At the heart of this imposing work of fiction is the cat and mouse chase of a female detective and a rampaging serial killer. This intriguing, race-against-time thriller that integrates grisly crime, law and order, and suspense will keep even the most reluctant readers at the edge of their seat.

Just when the first woman detective in South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Elizabeth Bowlyn, thinks she has found small-town bliss, a serial killer descends into the once quiet town of Arcadia Lakes. To incite panic and fear, he leaves a mutilated body practically in Lizzie's backyard at the local golf course. Before long, authorities learn the perpetrator's modus operandi: he methodically abducts young women and posts revolting videos of unspeakable brutality, often involving rape, torture, and murder. Chosen to head up the task force charged with capturing dangerous sexual sadist, Lizzie soon finds herself battling insecurities in her professional and personal life that jeopardize both finding the killer and ultimately her own fate.

Can a female sleuth stop the serial killer on the loose at the same time overcome the deep and hidden tribulations that hound her? A breakneck debut, "Scream for Me" keeps the intensity high from start to finish with an excellent mix blood, guts, brains and violence.
