Author Eli Reed draws on the tradition of high fantasy literature to form the expansive new novel, "The Maps of Seven and the Trinket of Iris" (published by Trafford Publishing).

"It is an adventurous young-adult fiction/fantasy tale about coming of age," Reed says. "Essentially, it is about good versus evil, and many other topics that follow along those lines."

Klever and his twin sister, Orri, live in a world called Earthaine. It is a peaceful place until Orri eats the "knowla" berry. This sets forth a chain of events that separates the twins. To save Orri's life, Klever must join his sister in fulfilling an ancient prophecy, but a wicked king and evil witch stand in his way. His journey is treacherous, but with the help of his loyal companions Klever will press forward to save his world.

An excerpt from "The Maps of Seven and the Trinket of Iris":

"'Indeed, there will be many failings, but you must remember that in all your learning, you must learn to seek wisdom,' Atenda spoke softly as she walked alongside Orri, as the army of men congregated by the seaport. They were tired but knew that now was the time to have courage. It was well with them that the Oracle and Orri accompanied them. But even so, there were powerful evils that sought to work against them."

Praise for "The Maps of Seven and the Trinket of Iris":

"The story is well-written, and the pacing keeps readers glued to the page. In general this book is a good representation of the fantasy genre, with sword and sorcery, magical cities and creatures, and the traditional hero's journey." -Caroline Blaha-Black, US Review of Books
