ROWLAND HEIGHTS, Calif.

Author Duk-Joong Won, Ph.D. reveals his life story, a story rooted from a life under the colonial powers, the terrors of Korean war and fears of the uncertainties. "Three-Day Journey" (published by Xlibris) will let readers discover how this remarkable man has tirelessly overcome his adveristies through his faith and admirable human resilience.

It all begins in a small farm village in the northern part of Korea, in a turbulent period of history when war has destroyed lives and torn families apart. This is the story of a 12-year old boy who had to leave his mother behind in North Korea with the assurance that they would be reunited in three days, but he never saw her again. It was the price he had to pay in order to escape the ravages of war. His moving journey took him to the urban areas of South Korea and to the Metropolitan Washington D.C., upstate New York and Southern California. It may be poignant, but this personal tale is also all about courage and success, motivated by the author's heartfelt memory of his mother and the fruit of his hardship that brought him to where he is and helped shape the man he has become.

Rev. Bill Youngblood has this to say about Dr. Won's memoir:
"What a compelling and inspiring journey! . . . To read how you escaped the war, survived in the long journey to safety in South Korea, made it to America, managed to get a first rate education, reconnected with Insook, start and run a company, and go back home to see your family in the North and South, and finished your career as an ordained United Methodist Pastor with wonderful effectiveness in each church that you served is truly an inspiration. . . "

An inspiring read, "Three-Day Journey" proves that occasional hardship can become the source of future success when one faces it with hope and confidence.
