Dramatic changes occurred in Social Security and Medicare because of The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015 that became public law on November 2. The provisions of these laws have wide-reaching effects on financial planning for future retirees.

"After I wrote my first best selling book in 2014, "Retirement Basics - Help for Broke Baby Boomers" I found most people were interested in learning more about how to maximize the Social Security and Medicare benefits they're entitled to," says Davis. "With the new rules and regulations regarding both, I felt it was critical to have both books provide the most up-to-date information. Some of the changes could result in the loss of tens of thousands of dollars to the uninformed."

"The New Retirement Basics" covers the latest regulations as well as these popular topics in a simple, easy-to-understand manner.

  • How do the new rules affect future retirees?
  • What is the best age to begin collecting Social Security?
  • How are benefits calculated?
  • How much will payments be based on the chosen retirement age?
  • Can people continue to work and collect Social Security?
  • What are all the "Parts" of Medicare and do they cover all medical expenses?
  • What premiums will undergo significant changes in 2016?
  • What are the pros and cons of Medicare Advantage Plans?

Says Jeanette Ehmer about the book, "Can you believe it's 2016 and we start off the year with NEW information about social security and medicare? Not to worry, Dr. Davis has taken the time to put together all the important information we need to know to go forward in making the right decisions right at our finger tips with this delightful read. These are not easy subjects, however they are very important to each of us and the changes are a must for us to understand. It is great to have someone study the subject and then put it in such an easy to read format for all of us to understand what is new and what it is we have to do."

In addition to her books, Dr. Davis hosts a web site called "Boomer Blasts - Inspiring a Better Retirement" where she writes frequent and informative blog posts on Social Security, Medicare, Health, Retirement and Retirement Destinations.
