Deborah Watters wittingly brings to the forefront of readers' attention the pressing problem of climate change and sustainability, along with the issue of bullying through her book "Magic Sack Come Back Come Back" (published by Xlibris AU). This children/young adult fiction not only teaches the importance of overcoming adversity and becoming self-aware, but also guides the readers on a hero's journey which offers the possibility of transformation on both a personal and global level.

This fantasy tale is set in the Australian bush, featuring the adversities and adventures of young Shoshi O'Malley. She is a lonely child, persecuted by her older, bullying sister and whose only ally is the family housekeeper, a sinister-looking Italian woman who is inexplicably able to grow giant vegetables in the back garden. Everything changes for Shoshi when a flying carpet, who has been turned into a burlap sack, takes up her cause and spirits her away on the nights of the full moon into a world of challenge, excitement and amazing possibilities. "Magic Sack Come Back Come Back" reveals how magical powers are acquired, lessons are learned and confidence is gained.

"This is an unusual book in that it carries deeply significant messages, yet is written in a lighthearted manner and with a humorous and often whimsical touch. Australian readers will recognize icons and irony pertaining to their culture," Watters shares. "This is a multileveled book, and if the adult reader perseveres beyond the first few chapters, they will become engaged and entertained."

About the Author
Deborah Watters grew up in an isolated country environment where reading sustained her and gave her a relationship with the world. Despite having six siblings she felt alone as there were few social opportunities, and the noise and conflicts of a big family caused her to turn inward to the world of imagination. As an adult Watters never settled on a career but like many authors, explored the world of work in a thoroughly extensive manner. She has been a teacher, photographer, cook, astrologer, library assistant, media researcher, bookseller, proofreader, housing officer and a disability support worker.
