David Banagis Shares Memoir of Navy Service in TWENTY-THREE DAYS AT SEA

David Banagis shares the happiness, tragedy and humor he experienced during a 20-year Navy career in his new memoir, "Twenty-Three Days at Sea: A Sailor's Story" (published by Abbott Press).

"Often times my late wife would encourage me to write a book which she felt needed to be written," Banagis recalls. "I promised her that I would. My only regret is that I did not do so while she was still with me, but, albeit late, I have finally delivered on my promise."

"Twenty-Three Days at Sea" is direct, factual and fast-paced, and Banagis delivers humor and drama in equal measure. During his time in the Navy, he interacted with a variety of people, from battle-hardened veterans to recruits fresh out of boot camp. Upon leaving a small Michigan farming community in 1959, David Banagis embarked on a 20-year career in the U.S. Navy. The early part of his career would see him assigned to duty involving blimps and being in Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis; he was ultimately assigned to Naval Aviation and the Weekend Warriors.
