Author Daryl Joyce makes his literary debut with his racy new memoir. "Crossing Over" (published by Balboa Press AU) is a young man's exciting journey as he leaves his family in Australia to experience London's fast lane during the late 1960s.

Joyce, the third son of a farmer, who was born in the small town of Kooweerup in the Australian state of Victoria during World War II, realized at an early age that there was life beyond his parent's farm.

In "Crossing Over" Joyce struggles to overcome his abiding sexual dilemma on a shipboard journey to London, where he meets his future wife. As he is travelling with his male partner, things quickly become complicated for him, especially when he learns that he will become a father. Will the call of the family be strong enough to pull him away from London's high life? It takes him two decades to decide to return to Australia and only after assisting his parents in their tragic final days, is Joyce able to find an illusive reconnection with his family.

An excerpt from "Crossing Over":

"After years of anticipation, the moment has arrived for me to jump into the London scene. Feeling the need to upgrade my wardrobe after clocking some of the trendy outfits Londoners are wearing, I waste no time embarking on some power shopping. I avoid touristy Carnaby Street with its cheap and gaudy paraphernalia in favour of Chelsea, where I check out its hip and happening retail strip Kings Road. ... Cautiously stepping through the security posts, my senses are instantly bombarded by high-octane psychedelia. ... When violet collides with acid lime, I have sensory overload and feel a pressing need to open my wallet."
