Cycling Fusion has just published their compendium of information on riding and teaching indoor cycling with power bikes on Amazon for use on multiple digital readers.

While it has been called the "Encyclopedia of power training information for indoor cycling", the 245 page book The Complete Guide to Power Training for Indoor Cycling, was only available on the iBook device for a hefty $35 price tag. This limited distribution and high price did not make this resource very accessible to the millions of riders and instructors who now use power bikes in Spinning or Indoor Cycling classes. By publishing the updated 2nd edition on Amazon for Kindle and other devices for just $12.95, they have empowered almost anyone to access this comprehensive resource. In likewise fashion, the iBook price has been simultaneously dropped to $14.95 as well.

Author Gene Nacey, founder of Cycling Fusion wrote The Complete Guide to Power Training for Indoor Cycling for a specific reason; to demystify the whole subject of training, riding and teaching with indoor power bikes. The way the manufacturers so radically changed their designs in such a short period of time left instructor and riding enthusiast alike confused and often frustrated with how to use all the new technology now staring them right in the face as they rode in class.

Originally, it was the iBook's interactive features that compelled Nacey to specifically select and create the native iBook format. Upon its initial release the author noted: "With so many indoor cycling instructors now beginning to teach on bikes with power, my focus on simplifying the jargon and educating the reader from ground zero is more important than ever. The latest iBook Author feature set really provided me with an incredible set of tools to make this a much more engaging experience than you would normally find in a book like this," stated author Gene Nacey upon the initial release in 2014.

Fast forward two years later and the general sense of confusion and the lack of practical application of power while teaching or training has given Mr. Nacey pause. It was simply time to re-evaluate where the industry is, and if his years of research and writing was making a difference or not. It became clear that both cost and availability were the two most likely impediments to a wider distribution and appreciation of this incredible resource and thus the second edition project was launched.

"Whenever I shared the book personally with an indoor cycling instructor or even a rider training for their first century ride, they would comment on how much easier it was to understand than the information they read from the racing side of cycling. Instructors felt they could put it to use in class, and riders finally could "get it" and feel more engaged in class. After a year and a half of those encounters and watching the book's distribution go nowhere, I knew I had to update the equipment technology chapters (since it's always changing) and release a second edition for more general population access." Stated author Gene Nacey

Within the 245 pages, there are 291 photos, 101 figures, charts and tables, 13 spreadsheets and 3 wall charts. The iBook's second edition still also contains the 6 narrated animations, 4 interactive graphics and the opening video for those who have an iPad. The concepts of these animations and graphics are still explained though in text and image format on the non-iOS devices.

The iBook version is currently available in the iBook store for $14.95 with the non-iOS versions (Kindle, Android, Etc) being available on Amazon.
