ALBUQUERQUE- On October 27th, at 7:00 PM, Bookworks and the University of New Mexico English Department and Creative Writing Program welcome Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk to the University of New Mexico Student Union Building for an event promoting the release of his new Doubleday novel Beautiful You.

Chuck Palahniuk (pronounced Paula-Nick, according to his website) is an American author based out of the Pacific Northwest. Palahniuk attended University of Oregon in 1986, with a focus of study in journalism. His first novel, Fight Club, was published in 1999 and eventually inspired the cult-status film adaptation featuring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.

Since the success of his first novel, Palahniuk has published a rich body of work, including the novels Tell-All, Invisible Monsters, Lullaby, and Choke, to name a few. Each new Palahniuk novel expands scope of his oeuvre, and this new book is no exception. Palahniuk is known for riveting performances on his book tours that push through literary boundaries.

Palahniuk's new book, Beautiful You, addresses the consumer side of the sex industry, through the character of protagonist C. Linux Maxwell, who is dubbed "Climax Well." Utilizing the same obscure, satirical brilliance that won over readers of his previous novels, Palahniuk provides a funny and sometimes shocking story for his fans, who call themselves The Cult.

Fans, new and old, have the chance to experience a performance by Chuck Palahniuk on Monday, October 27th. This event will begin at 7PM, doors at 6pm, in the University of New Mexico Student Union Building Ballrooms B and C.

Hosted by Bookworks and co-sponsored by the University of New Mexico Creative Writing Program, tickets for this event are $25.95--admit one with a signed hardcover of Beautiful You. Tickets can be purchased online at http://bkwrks.com/chuck-palahnuik. One add-one ticket is available for $5 for those who have already purchased a ticket at the original price.
