With Jonathan Livingston Seagull as a guide many years ago, Cheri Nelson Herring began her own journey of personal growth, embracing lessons of the heart presented through the eyes of children, world-renowned self-help and spiritual teachers and nature. She believes her life has been presented to her according to a divine plan, and the time has come for her to share some insights from her 70 years of personal growth.

In "Rock-Solid Blessings from My Garden" (published by Balboa Press), Herring integrates the lessons she has come to appreciate-the positive and the negative-throughout her seven decades of life. During her career as an English teacher, she required her students to express their thoughts through the casual format of journal entries. After more than a decade into her retirement, she began to iterate this practice with a lofty goal in mind: to reveal her lifelong quest for courage and enlightenment. Sharing this book is her greatest attempt to soar to new heights.

"The overall theme of my book is one of connectedness to our Higher Power and His role in assisting us in that connection, which only happens when we align ourselves with His infinite wisdom and love. He will always support us in our desire to become enlightened," Herring says.

"Rock-Solid Blessings From My Garden" is a book about the blessings of the heart-blessings that connect every species on the planet as one miraculous and conjoined representation of God.

About the Author
Cheri Nelson Herring was uprooted from her familiar surroundings with family in Fort Worth and was planted in the small farming community of Portales, New Mexico in 1950, where her father, Jack Nelson, and her grandfather, Cecil Nelson, began a joint venture in the broomcorn business. Neatly tucked away in this agricultural community is a crown jewel known as Eastern New Mexico University. As an adventuresome youngster, it did not take long for Herring to discover this honorable institution, which would become her college alma mater in 1968 and would set her on a course for her future as an educator, as the wife of a football coach, and as a mother. These experiences began in Odessa, where she, her husband and their daughter Paige spent many years immersed in the much-publicized "Friday Night Lights" football program and lifestyle, which would eventually serve as a springboard to future positions in Fort Stockton, Alice, and Houston, where they both retired only to begin new adventures as grandparents in the Texas Hill Country.
