SAVANNAH, Ga. - Author Carmela Orsini Harmon brings the world of 1830s Savannah, Georgia, to life in her novel "On the Chin of a Giant" (published by AuthorHouse), which is beginning a new marketing campaign for 2015.

Thomas Scott's move to Savannah is the start of a new life for him and his brother, Allen. Persuaded to settle by Michael Herb, captain of the river boat Irish Mist, Thomas feels out of place in his new home, until he meets the alluring Mandria Lucas.

Mandria is on a mission to ruin her father - a terrible womanizer - and Thomas is unknowingly mucking up her plans, but that does not stop Mandria from being equally as drawn to him. Yet, other obstacles stand in their way. The beautiful, cunning Nicole O'Rourke wants Thomas for herself. Will Thomas and Mandria find a way to be together?

Harmon grew up in Savannah, a city whose history has long since fascinated her. She says that whenever she walks along the cobbled streets, she tries to imagine the people who once walked the same road. Inspired by these thoughts, she wrote "On the Chin of a Giant."

"Savannah is called 'the most haunted city,'" Harmon says, "and I truly feel there are stories here still waiting to be heard."

Harmon continues Thomas' story in the thrilling sequel, "On the Foot of a Mountain," which is also now available.
