A lawyer frustrated with the inadequacies of the justice system takes matters into her own hands, becoming the ruthless anti-heroine in A. L. Sutter's new psychological thriller novel. These "Confessions of a Female Vigilante" (published by Xlibris) reveal to readers the consequences of misplaced trust and the irreparable harm to the female psyche caused by relationships with men.

Lane Stone has been a 25-year prosecutor for the L.A. County District Attorney's Office, and now practices criminal defense. Claiming justice after a devastating experience of erotic transference with her psychologist of 30 years, she takes the law into her own hands. Each act reveals both the hollowness of revenge and the addictive nature of vigilantism, which traps her in a vicious cycle. Her background, as a woman who escaped an abusive household and became a successful attorney through her own efforts, as well as her grief over the loss of her daughter, provide commentary on modern society. The narrative explores issues like the economic opportunities available for women, their new sexual freedoms in society and, paradoxically, the continuing inequalities between class and gender, which prompt some to act beyond the law to strike at those who once preyed on people with impunity.

In Lane's case, she finds a second chance through the encouragement of the only true love she has ever known - Christopher. Doubt as to Lane's motives is raised by Chris' best friend, Jimmy, an LAPD cop, and readers will see if the unbreakable bond Lane has with Christopher is strong enough to put her demons to rest.

"Can the obsessive need for revenge ever be satiated? Only you, the readers can hand down the verdict on Lane Stone," Sutter says, beckoning readers to serve as the eyewitnesses of the bloody exploits of one woman who has made herself judge, jury and punisher.
