With the recent launch of his website where users can learn about his books, and purchase them, Stephen P. Byers has developed yet another way to touch and motivate writers around the world through his new blog, "Short-Shorts."

Inspired by fellow author Roberta Allen who wrote "Gather your writing utensils, set the timer to five minutes, and write a short short story", Stephen did just that. Byers recently posted his first "Short-Short" on his blog following his simple tag-line: "A literary sketch depicting a slice of life in 500 words or less."

He will publish a new post each Tuesday at 2pm CDT. As an author of six books, Byers finds it stimulating to cut back on length and challenges others to do the same by following these simple steps:

1. Never exceed 500 words;
2. Always end with a character on the edge of change; and
3. Never write the last sentence.
