Harry Potter, one of the most popular book series characters in publishing history, celebrates his birthday today, July 31 - and every Books-A-Million store across the country will host a party that all his fans can enjoy, muggle and wizard alike.

Since the release of the first novel, 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone,' on June 30, 1997, the books have gained immense popularity, critical acclaim, and commercial success worldwide. As of July 2013, the books have sold between 400 and 450 million copies, making them some of the best-selling book series in history, and have been translated into 73 languages.
