Pancreatic cancer survivor, author and inspirational speaker Bob Brown has announced the release of his first book, "The Ride of My Life," a memoir of his cancer journey that has been praised as an informative and entertaining book offering an inspiring account of Bob's own personal challenge with cancer. It has become the go-to-book for those newly diagnosed patients and their families, as well as others who may be facing different obstacles with a need to be inspired and continue the battle, no matter what they are facing.

The self-described "regular guy" Bob Brown's courageous battle with pancreatic cancer and his play-by-play efforts to save his life is the cornerstone of the book. In a conversational tone that feels like you are chatting with a lifelong friend, Bob shares everything about his fight to stay alive and make the right treatment choices. The book affirms the difference a positive attitude can make and celebrates one's unexpected gift of a new perspective on life. The amazing story of survival will move, amuse and instill hope in anyone's heart.

Brown was a corporate executive leading companies to great successes before he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. With a loving wife and two children, Brown was living the American dream enjoying the perks of great success and the love from a very close-knit family. In 2008, at the age of 50 he was diagnosed with stage III inoperable pancreatic cancer and began the all-consuming journey into the world of life threatening diseases and medical jargon. Bob's fight to survive, surrounded by the hope and support of friends and family, gave him a strength and passion to fight the battle. The book is his chronicle, originally written as a letter to his children, of how he fought a battle which most said could not be won.

He went through rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, sought the advice of numerous doctors whom he refers to in the book as such namesakes like Dr. Red Sox, Dr. Fire Away, and Dr. Serious, among others. After being told he was inoperable and to prepare for the inevitable Bob again sought multiple treatment options and surgery. He defied all doctor's recommendations except "Dr. Hero" who would later become known as the one who saved his life. In 2009 Bob was declared NED (no evidence of disease) and today has passed the remarkable milestone of being a 5 year survivor.

"In the beginning I began to write things down as a personal journal to my family, especially my children. I wanted them to have something later in their lives so they could understand what we were all going through as a family," said Bob Brown. "What happened down the road was pretty remarkable and the journal became a book that I had to share. I published it to reach people who are facing either the same or different obstacles in their life and my hope is that I can help them, support them or give them more choices as they continue their own personal journey. It has been amazing how receptive people have been to the book. We all must remember to Stay Strong ... Stay a Survivor!"

The Ride of My Life has been described by fans as "a celebration of living and inspiration on how one can overcome even the most challenging of obstacles in life." One reader described it as if she "was sitting at a table having coffee with Bob and just listening" while others have said they "could not put the book down." It has quickly become one of the best-selling books on Amazon.com and is consistently within the top 2% sold overall.

He has been featured on TV, print media and billboards in the New York Presbyterian Hospital's "Amazing Things Are Happening Here" national advertising campaign and has been the featured guest speaker at numerous events across the country. He is dedicated to talking with newly diagnosed patients offering them guidance and hope.

The book is a must-read for cancer patients, doctors and medical professionals as well as anyone wanting to be inspired with a hope that frankly does run eternal. It's an inspiring documentary mixed with a passionate message to stay true to yourself, listen to what you are saying and believe. Bob Brown wants you to take your obstacles and turn them into successes. Throughout the book the reader becomes friends with Bob's family, his close-knit friends and his doctors. Along the way the reader will find themselves laughing, crying, rejoicing, screaming and most importantly triumphantly closing the last page and saying "yes I can."
