SCARSDALE, N.Y. -

Although his name is unusual, Galileo Ambrosius looks like any other boy who lives in Fox Meadow, but his abilities are as different as his name: He and his family can do magic. The young wizard stars in this new novel that features an evil witch and a magical map that shows the way to a wizard's greatest treasure. He'll need to find the treasure before the witch and her cronies take it for their own.

"Galileo and the Maze Maker's Treasure" creates a world of magic that exists just beyond the ordinary world, where Galileo's mother runs a shop selling spells and lending magic books and his father, a wizard, works as an accountant in New York City. When a silver-haired witch masquerading as a foul-tempered high school science teacher curses two ordinary students - creating an unexpected side effect - it's time for Galileo to bring out his wand and use his magic to save them.

The young wizard is not alone in his quest to find the treasure and to learn how the witch learned about the map. His sister, some friends, a talking owl and other magical creatures soon ally themselves with Galileo. But it won't be easy to get to the treasure, and the witch and her evil colleagues are hot on the trail too. The team must overcome one obstacle after another, including a magical maze, trusting in their skills and courage to reach the treasure and protect it from the forces of darkness.

Author Biagio DiSalvo began writing "Galileo and the Maze Maker's Treasure," an unforgettable story of the power of friendship and courage, when he was 14, allowing him to combine his interest in travel and fantasy. The Westchester, N.Y., resident enjoys hunting for mushrooms in his spare time.
