Robert M. Ottman has always wanted to help others in a meaningful and practical ways. He realized that he had a real opportunity to do that by using his own life as an example. He wanted to use the dark storms that had come in his life as a platform to guide readers in navigating their life's stormy seas. It prompted him in writing "Beyond The Rainbow Promise: Shattered Dreams. Shifting Realities. Broken Hearts. An inspiring journey through the storms of life" (published by WestBow Press).

Ottman did not want to write a self-help book as a leading and studied expert. He admits he is not that guy. But he did want to write a meaningful story about his journey through horrific adversity and strife, and partner it up with soulful and heartfelt contemplations, insights and reflections as he journeyed. As lives around him were put at risk, Ottman found his values and perspectives shifting, as the storms of life intensified.

"No matter the place or time, whether it is the past, present or future, tough times will find their way into our days, our lives," Ottman says. "Determining how to navigate our way through these dark and difficult times will always exist, and any inside track that provides meaningful perspectives and insights will always be of value. My book is that relevant perspective."

"Beyond The Rainbow Promise" hopes to make readers realize that they are not alone when the game of life gets tough and that there are others all around them that care about them and want to help. Ottman also believes that it takes real courage to ask for and to accept help. This is a hard lesson for folks, as it was for Ottman.
