Beverly Blackman-Mounce, a former public school teacher in Texas, has completed her new book "The Intruder": a thrilling short read in which a couple of teenage boys take on more than they bargained for when they find summer employment as assistants in a robotics lab.

As a mother, an oma, step-grandmother, and teacher, Blackman-Mounce has been actively involved in the lives of young people her entire adult life. Her choice to write for an adolescent literature was a no-brainer. "(I) always observed the lack of books available to teen-age boys and (am) seeking to fill that gap."

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Beverly Blackman Mounce's imaginative tale opens on Sam - an old and noble tree whose role as giver of shade to the Comanche people in its youth is now overshadowed by its secret identity as a portal to an alien dimension. Sam's safety is being threatened by a drone in search of information: an intruder.

Tuffy and Wes are celebrating their final summer as high school students by acquiring what they believe will be interesting, yet easy, summer jobs as lab assistants. The plan is perfect as they have been promised $3,000 a piece for one month's work and will not even have to pay for living expenses as the location is adjacent to Tuffy's grandfather's ranchland.

However, all is not what it seems. Grandpa Rex knows far more about aliens than he cares to admit and may after even have them living in his land, not to mention rugged old Sam whose roots are firmly planted in his yard. Unbeknownst to them, Tuffy and Wes play a far removed role from that of lab assistants because their involvement becomes essential to the sinister plan that is underway in the robotics lab.

Readers who wish to experience this intriguing work can purchase "The Intruder" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
